In Ironwell Lane there is a property known as Ivanhoe.
It consists of a bungalow and large nursery area which are now no longer used.
Planning permission was granted for the bungalow just after the second world war, but a restriction was placed on the site that the bungalow must be used for Agricultural Occupancy, in other words for the nurserymen who operated the nursery.
The site has been sold in recent weeks to new owners.
The new owners have applied to Rochford District Council to have the restriction on the bungalow removed.
You can read all the application documents by going to
http://www.rochford.gov.uk//PublicAccess/tdc/DcApplication/application_searchform.aspxAnd entering the application case reference
08/00619/LDCThis could in theory open up this particular site to possible development.
Just a little more worrying is that the planning application has been submitted by a commercial property development company.
